How to Measure for a Wig

Three Basic Measurements
Send us your measurements for the best fit for your custom wig.
Before you start:
- Pin hair as flat and as tight as possible before taking the measurements. This will eliminate bulges that distort head contours.
- Use a cloth tape measure to ensure accuracy.
1. Around the
Head:
Measure all around the head. Starting at
your natural hairline in front, follow your hairline to just above your ear.
Measure around the back to the bend in your neck, just above your other ear,
then around front to where you began. (Average measurement is 22 inches).
2. Front to
Back:
Measure from your natural hairline
in front, back over the crown to where your head meets the top of your neck.
(Average measurement is 14 1/4inches).
3. Ear to Ear:
Starting at the top of one ear in the crease where a pair
of glasses would rest, bring your tape measure up and over the top of your head
and down to the same position at your other ear. (Average measurement is 11
1/2 inches).
Standard Sizes
NOTE: The Velcro-TM tabs
inside some wigs adjust up to 1" larger or smaller for a secure fit. Some wigs
may come with an adjustable elastic drawstring.

How to make a Wig Cap Template
You can
make a template for a wig cap that will fit precisely.
- Place an 18-inch square of clear plastic wrap so that it covers the top portion of the head
- After pressing the wrap close to the head, use tape to contour the head shape
- Beginning at the forehead, place transparent tape on the wrap over what will become the outer perimeters of the pattern.
- The areas of baldness determine these outer perimeters.
- After you have taped the boundaries, cover the inner portion of the plastic wrap with overlapping pieces of tape
- Apply a few layers of tape.
- The tape will lock the plastic wrap into a permanent transparent tape template.
